“Learning to surf is a skill for life and there is so much more to surfing than just standing up on a board. Just like learning to swim or snow ski correct technique is the key. Surfing is my passion and coaching surfing is my full time job. I’m there in the water for every session building your confidence and surf safety education is a big part of every lesson I conduct. So make a lifestyle choice to become a surfer and surf for the rest of your life! I have friends still surfing in their late 60’s and 70’s, surfing really is the fountain of youth and I’ll teach you to love it just as much as I do.”Miles Niddrie
BEGINNER SURF LESSONS
Our local beaches have lots of differences and I will teach you how they work and why. Remember to find suitable waves for your level of surfing involves tide, wind, swell size and sandbanks. Every beach works differently and 1 beach can be dangerous and unsafe but a short drive away another beach can be perfect on the SAME day! All lessons include vital surf safety education and information on wave types, rips and currents, sandbanks, tides and much more.
If you want to improve your surfing then book a lesson to get further instruction on more advanced surfing, including wave and beach selection, improving your turns, choosing the right board and equipment, fitness and stretching for surfing. Don’t forget paddling fitness, catching waves is what surfers do, so make sure you include some paddling in every session so you can build up the muscles you use for paddling and increase your wave catching.
Weetbix Surfgroms is a national learn to surf and surf safety education program for ages 5-12yrs. It’s all about building confidence and teaching the safe way to use our beaches in a non-competitive based progam. Every session has new skills and more information for the kids to learn. Adults will also get great tips on our local beaches and how to spot the hazards, like rips and dumping waves so please join in with the kids. I teach the importance of timing your beach visits to tides and surf conditions to make sure the kids are in the water at a suitable beach and in water the correct depth for their age. Available all year round, join a program anytime. Each child gets a great backpack from Rip Curl and Weet-Bix.
5 Skill LEVELS modeled on the nationally accredited SurfGroms program. Learn all about surf safety, correct technique, board safety, how to read the weather, rips, waves and how our local beaches work.
